When I found out that I was pregnant with my son I knew that I would have a challenge finding a name for him, but that was three years ago and now he is a healthy bouncing toddler that is all boy.
However, that didn’t help me three years ago when I was trying to figure out what my husband and I should name our son. So we finally settled on a method that many people have used in the past, but is not as common today as what it was several years ago. We decided to pour over the family histories to see what name would be fitting for our future son.
To some people this method might be very easy to do like it was for me, but for others who have generations to look over or even have several siblings with children it can be a little bit more difficult. I know that for my son we took my husbands middle name which was his great grandfathers first name for our sons name, and then for his middle name we decided to continue with the tradition of using my fathers name.
Now this is a common practice in my family as his middle name is that of his dad and this went back for several generations to keep the name alive in our family. I know that for many people this method is a little bit old fashioned, but for many people this works out really well and also provides some great family history in your child’s name.
