One of the things that most people don’t think about until it actually happens to them is Morning Sickness. After all, you are excited to get pregnant, at least you should be, and those negatives don’t really play into your thought process until faced with them. But it is a fact that most women are stricken with Morning Sickness during their first trimester and the relief methods are as varied as the women they strike. Here are some general guidelines to follow.
- You may wonder why during pregnancy you are blazing hot all the time and everyone else in the house is freezing. Hot and Sticky are not good for you, your body will be creating a lot of energy by growing the little life inside you so keep to the cooler areas of your house, or just crank up the air conditioning.
- Creating life is taking a lot out of you, do NOT be afraid to take a nap. Everyone seems to think that they need to be so productive during their pregnancy because they will be busy with baby later. You are busy with baby RIGHT NOW. Take a good nap every day to recharge your body.
- Eat what you want, when you want. Your body craves things for a reason. It may be silly but your need for pickles at that very moment might indicate that your body needs a little salt, or something else it gets when it gets pickles. Catering to the cravings will help you avoid dissapointing your body later and incurring a bout of nausea.
- Do not lay down immediately after eating. You may feel as full as you do after Thanksgiving turkey but avoid the urge to lay down right away. This can cause stomach upset and heartburn.
- Simple enough but try to avoid foul odours. These can really turn your stomach and the feeling will linger just like the odour.
- Eat frequently and small meals. The baby is taking up a lot of energy but he or she is also taking up space. You normally may be able to eat more than you can now but think about your stomach being scrunched in around that baby. Eating more frequently but less in amount allows the food to digest normally and not sit in your stomach making you feel bloated and sick.
Morning Sickness is different for everybody so your best bet is to adjust to your needs on a daily basis and cater to them. You are creating life, so do not try to act otherwise. Take care of yourself, and that baby and you’ll have a happy, healthy pregnancy.
